About the role

The Medical Assistant provides direct clinical and administrative support in a pediatric setting, including preparing patients and assisting providers with examinations. They are responsible for administering medications, maintaining exam rooms, and ensuring accurate documentation in EHR systems.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant supports the clinical team by providing direct patient care assistance for a pediatrics office, performing clinical and administrative duties, and ensuring efficient patient flow. This role requires accuracy, compassion, and strong interpersonal skills to assist both patients and providers.

Essential duties & responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs, and document medical history.

Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Administer immunizations and medications as directed by providers.

Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and compliant with infection control standards.

Support front office operations as needed to ensure smooth patient flow.

Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Medicaid populations preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Compensation

Minimum: $17/hour

Midpoint: $20/hour

Maximum: $23/hour

Requirements

A high school diploma is required, while completion of a Medical Assistant program and CMA or RMA certification are preferred. Candidates should ideally have over one year of medical office experience and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
