The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center.

When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

Experience and education

Required Education Bachelor's Degree Graduate from accredited physical therapy program at the Bachelor level and is eligible for licensure in the State of Texas Experience No experience required Licenses and Certifications Active cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) certification (LPT) LIC PHYSICAL THERAPIST Eligible for licensure in the State of Texas Preferred Experience 1 year New graduates welcome (1 yr. Experience preferred). Experience working in mental health or psychiatric care setting is preferred.

• JOB DUTIES Has knowledge of therapeutic principles and practices good clinical judgment.
• Does not compromise the patient's or another's safety, while at the same time maximizes the patient's treatment potential.
• Identifies and records problems areas on evaluation.
• For each problem identified, projects reasonable goals with realistic time frames.
• Analyzes and designs treatment plans based on patient problems and goals.
• Determines if planned treatment is effective and progresses patient in a timely fashion.
• Prepares for patient discharge in an organized and efficient manner including timely and accurate submission of equipment needs.
• Displays good knowledge of patient's resources and needs.
• Fosters teamwork by treating all staff fairly, facilitating 2-way communication and having a collaborative attitude.
• Organizes patient treatment time efficiently.
• Records patient's progress in a concise, accurate, and timely fashion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
