About the Role

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from an accredited program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
• Knowledge of privacy practices (HIPAA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical histories, and recording symptoms.
• Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures by handling instruments and supplies.
• Administer medications as ordered by the provider.
• Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and processing insurance information.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients to provide instructions, answer questions, and facilitate a positive healthcare experience.
• May require to travel to other locations (coverage purposes).

Skills

• The required skills enable the Medical Assistant to efficiently perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients, and assisting with procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems is essential for accurate documentation and smooth administrative operations.
• Strong communication skills are used daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
• Preferred skills like phlebotomy and EKG certification enhance the assistant’s ability to provide comprehensive clinical support.
• Additionally, bilingual skills and knowledge of insurance processes improve patient accessibility and streamline office workflows, contributing to a more effective healthcare environment.

Full-time positions available in Primary Care, Allergy, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Oncology-Hematology, Urology, Pulmonology and Cardiology. Locations are Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota.

PRN/Part-time float position available for weekday shifts and weekend urgent care clinic shifts.
