Job Description

Emergency Dept Technician Performs direct patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician in the Emergency Department within his/her scope of practice. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location Provides care that is appropriate to and respectful to patient’s age, culture, and spiritual needs Strong priority-setting and organizational skills Deals effectively interdepartmentally and with the public Ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language Exhibits the ability to make effective decisions based on verifiable and measurable data/criteria Demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills using sound judgement EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training or obtain within 6 months of hire which must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period EMT Basic certification, recent Emergency Department Technician, current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 in the State of Oregon, completion of second term Nursing Curriculum, or paramedic experience (within the last two years) preferred High school diploma or equivalent preferred EXPERIENCE Recent (within past two years) hospital experience preferred Phlebotomy experience preferred GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: UFCW The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
