The Registered Dietitian provides foundational nutritional care, including medical nutrition therapy, assessments, and interventions for patients. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to improve clinical outcomes and educate patients on dietary plans.
Candidates must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) certified by the CDR and licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). A degree from an accredited nutrition program is required, though no minimum years of experience are specified.
The Registered Dietitian I is responsible for providing foundational nutritional care that includes, but is not limited to, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population. The role functions as a partner in scope, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to maximize patients nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes. Position Key Accountabilities: Nutrition Assessment: Conduct thorough medical nutrition therapy evaluation and provide care to low complexity patients in a multidisciplinary practice setting. Collaborate within an interdisciplinary environment to identify patients at nutrition risk or needing a higher level of care. Nutrition Monitoring and Evaluation: Track patient progress and modify interventions as necessary. Progressively develop care plans to include identification and analysis of new information, patterns, and findings. Counseling and Education: Educate patients on nutritional guidelines and dietary plans. Identifies information asymmetries to support shared decision-making. Nutrition Diagnosis: Analyze assessment data to determine nutrition-related problems. Recommend and counsel patients, family, and/or caregivers on the appropriate nutrition plan to improve the patient's disease or condition management. Nutrition Intervention: Plan and implement interventions to address nutritional issues. Develop interventions using basic problem-solving strategies. Application of Research: Integrate evidence-based practices into patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.
