Each pharmacy team member is essential in ensuring that UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper Pharmacy exists to ensure safe, effective, and affordable medication use in our communities, one person at a time. The Pharmacy Technician serves as a part of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper and collaborates with other team members, to provide optimal care. The Technician accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required.
No experience required; 1 year of relevant experience preferred Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy within 2 years of hire required. Must register as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Persons enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) program must obtain a pharmacy technician trainee registration if they will be performing the duties of a pharmacy technician.
Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and communication skills with other healthcare professionals.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
