Coordinates and provides clinical nursing care for pediatric patients transitioning to home settings using an evidence-based approach. Performs clinical skills including central line care, home infusion, and medication administration while providing caregiver education.
Requires a current Ohio Nursing License and a BSN or ADN (with commitment to obtain BSN). Must possess a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and preferably one year of pediatric and homecare experience.
Contingent, working a minimum of 16 hours per month. We are looking for an individual to service our North region, for those who are located in Northen Franklin County, or North of Franklin County. RN will help cover entire nursing area as needed but will be assigned to our northern region including our service area counties of Richland, Marion, Morrow, Delaware, Union, and Knox. Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Summary: Coordinates and provides clinical care for patients transitioning to the home setting utilizing an Evidence-Based Practice approach. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Essential Functions: Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Performs a variety of clinical skills, including but not limited to central line care, home infusion, wound care, assessment, and medication administration. Correctly calculates, prepares and administers medications by the five rights of medication administration. Provides Family Centered Care. Promotes and provides necessary patient and caregiver education for the patient’s prescribed therapies. Initiates clear and purposeful, written and verbal communications with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team to review nursing actions, patient/family response, and progress towards goals. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Clinical care and documentation aligns with Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission regulations, and Nationwide Children’s Homecare (NCH and Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NC policies and procedures. Education Requirement: BSN, or ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. Licensure Requirement: Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License, required. Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Must have excellent critical thinking skills, good communication and customer service skills, and the ability to organize and manage time well. Ability to work independently, as well as within a multi-disciplinary team. Included skills, but not limited to, are pediatric assessment, infusion and central line care, injections, wound care and patient education.
