Provide comprehensive medical management and primary care for the LGBTQ+ community, specifically focusing on HIV and sexually transmitted infections. The role also involves conducting clinical research and supervising mid-level providers.
Applicants must be board certified in Adult Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine. A valid Texas Medical License is required, and the position is not open to J-1 visa holders.
Details: Join a well-established multi-specialty group. This is a unique clinical opportunity to provide comprehensive medical management for members of the Houston LGBTQ+ community. Successful applicants will have an interest in externally and internally funded research. A physician with interest in developing their research portfolios in gender-affirming health care, infectious diseases, and sexually transmitted infection studies is preferred as they will synergize with our outstanding resources, strengths, and current funding.
Diagnose and treat HIV infected and uninfected adult patients in ambulatory care settings Refer patients to medical or surgical specialists as needed Order referrals to nutrition, case management, adherence counseling, and other services Administer or order appropriate tests Daily review of lab results and requested medication refills Assist with the disposition of urgent and walk-in visits Participate in coverage for other medical providers when needed Take and enter detailed clinical notes Provide supervision for mid-level providers Conduct patient callbacks either directly, through an assistant, or through the EMR Patient Portal Work closely with Research staff to recruit appropriate candidates for clinical research activities Participate in meetings and administrative assignments Participate in on-call schedule by phone only, averaging one week for every five weeks Provide comprehensive medical management of HIV patient, including HIV specific health-related quality of life, primary care, and preventative medical management
