Physical Therapist – PRN (up to 19 hours/week) Garden City, NY (Full Circle Breast Cancer Recovery)- Split between facilities! Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 Per Hour - Flexibility in rate depending on experience level and coverage availability. At Full Circle Breast Cancer Recovery Program (a specialized physical therapy clinic in Garden City, Long Island), a physical therapist (PT) focuses on helping people through all phases of a breast cancer journey and recovery with targeted, individualized treatment. This is more specialized than general PT — it’s specifically designed for the needs of breast cancer patients and survivors. What a Physical Therapist Does There 1. Restore motion & flexibility After surgery (mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction), scar tissue and stiffness in the shoulder, chest, and arm can limit range of motion. PTs use gentle stretching and movement exercises to improve mobility and prevent stiffness. 2. Reduce pain & scar tightness Manual techniques — including soft‑tissue work and mobility exercises — help lessen discomfort, loosen scar tissue, and improve comfort around surgical sites. 3. Strength rebuilding Cancer treatments (surgery, chemo, radiation) can cause muscle weakness. PTs provide strengthening programs to rebuild muscle and support daily activity and functional fitness. 4. Improve posture & function Changes in posture from surgery, pain, and compensatory movement patterns can affect shoulders and spine. Therapists address posture to help reduce long‑term issues. 5. Lymphedema prevention & management Though specialized lymphedema therapy might be part of some programs, PTs trained in cancer rehab teach precautions and exercises to minimize swelling and help lymph drainage, especially after lymph node removal. 6. Support during treatment Even during chemotherapy or radiation, PT can help address fatigue, balance issues, and weakness, allowing patients to remain as active and comfortable as possible. 7. Personalized care at every stage Whether newly diagnosed, actively in treatment, postoperative, or long‑term survivor, PTs tailor programs to each person’s goals and recovery timeline.
