A compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) Per Diem who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to patients experiencing addiction, mental health challenges, and co-occurring disorders. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative treatment environment, works well with a team, and is dedicated to supporting each patient’s recovery journey with empathy, professionalism, and clinical excellence. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communications skills, and the ability to build meaningful professional relationships with patients, families, and team members in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who is eager to learn, grow, and passionate about supporting patients throughout their recovery journey, while contributing positively to a culture of care, healing and teamwork. The successful candidate will demonstrate compassion, adaptability, professionalism, and genuine dedication to improving the lives of patients and families impacted by addiction and mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care and clinical support to patients experiencing addiction, mental health, and co-occurring disorders Conduct nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and document clinical observations accurately and timely Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patients’ effectiveness, side effects, and overall response to treatment Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation Support patients through their recovery process by promoting our integrative and holistic treatment approach Collaborate closely with the nursing director, physicians, therapists, case managers, and team members to coordinate patient care and treatment planning Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant medical records in accordance with facility policies, HIPPA, CARF, and applicable state and federal regulations Respond appropriately to patient concerns, crisis situations, and medical or behavioral health emergencies while ensuring patient safety at all times Promote a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment focused on respect, healing, and recovery Ensure confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional standard of care Participate in staff meetings, trainings, compliance initiatives, and ongoing professional development opportunities Demonstrate flexibility, accountability, and commitment to quality patient care Adhere to company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Active CA Registered Nurse (RN) license Current Basic Life Support CPR certification that includes AED training and hands-on skills assessment 3+ years: Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, addiction treatment, substance abuse recovery, detoxification, and/or outpatient healthcare settings Experience working with patients experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Experience with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and relapse prevention Experience with integrative and holistic treatment approach

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Active CA Registered Nurse (RN) license Current Basic Life Support CPR certification that includes AED training and hands-on skills assessment Certification through the American Heart Association preferred 10+ years: Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, addiction treatment, substance abuse recovery, detoxification, and/or outpatient healthcare settings Experience working with patients experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Experience with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and relapse prevention Experience with integrative and holistic treatment approach About Universal Health Services

Requirements
