Job description
Your job is more than a job The Dialysis Technician provides care to patients afflicted with acute or chronic renal disease.
Performs dialyzer reprocessing, equipment maintenance and repair, water treatment monitoring, participation in quality improvement, vascular access monitoring and direct patient care.
As an allied health professional, cares for patients while they undergo dialysis treatments.
GENERAL DUTIES Responsible for assembling supplies and preparing machinery for dialysis.
Prepares machine and solutions according to protocol.
Performs required tests, monitors and other duties during patient dialysis treatment.
Takes patient's vital signs and monitors the patient, before, during and after the treatment.
Monitors patients and equipment, responding to alarms and adjusts treatment as required.
Measures, calculates and adjusts blood flow and fluid removal rates.
Disinfects dialysis supplies and sanitizes the equipment.
Communicates the emotional, medical, psychosocial and nutritional concerns to the appropriate nursing staff and works with them to ensure patient needs are met.
Administers prescribed treatment as directed by physician and/or nursing staff.
Documents all treatment details as required.
Ensures patient safety and comfort during the treatment.
Educates patients about proper dialysis care to aid them in achieving positive outcomes.
