Physician – Family Medicine

Description SUMMARY The Family Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care services to individuals and families across the lifespan in a community driven environment.

Principal activities & responsibilities

• Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Collaborates with a team of providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and community health workers. Maintains accurate, timely, and complete electronic medical records (EMR). Participates in clinical quality improvement initiatives and health promotion programs. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows standards of care established by the clinic and ensures compliance with federal, tribal, and state regulations. Supports community outreach and public health efforts as a representative of the clinic. Collaborates efficiently and effectively while consistently demonstrating professionalism and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with internal teams, external partners, and Tribal members. • DEMANDS: Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds. Moderate physical activity. Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

• ENVIRONMENT: Will require working occasional nights and/or weekends. Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area. Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions. Lighting conditions may be very bright or very dim. Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels. May be regularly exposed to unfavorable conditions, including body fluids and hazardous chemicals Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required to ensure safety. May involve potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other biohazardous materials.
