Coordinate and administer respiratory therapy modalities to patients across all age groups from newborns to adults. Assess patient data to identify specific respiratory requirements and provide care according to departmental policies.
Requires a degree in Respiratory Care, RRT credential, and a current Virginia state license. BLS certification is mandatory, while ACLS, PALS, and NRP are preferred.
Coordinate and participate in the administration of respiratory therapy modalities to adult, adolescent, pediatric, infant, and newborn patients with respiratory related difficulties in accordance with physician’s instructions. The registered therapist must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the Director of Respiratory Services and receives input from the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor.
Work schedule is for 3 nights/4 nights alternating.
A minimum of 1-year acute care experience functioning as a Respiratory Therapist is desired. Experience with adult, pediatric, and newborn patients is preferred.
Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program with a A.A.S. or B.S. degree in Respiratory Care.
License Requirements: Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia
