Cleveland Clinic’s G81 ENT/Plastics & Internal Medicine Unit is an 8-bed ENT/Plastics specialty stepdown unit and a 24-bed internal medicine unit.
Patients in this unit have a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis and complex multi-system failure.
Caregivers float to both sides of the unit, so you will have one foot in medicine and 1 foot in critical care.
A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
Perform routine laboratory tests.
Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: One year of patient care experience Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
Involves extensive standing and walking.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
