Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Two years of Registered Nurse experience in a community setting, public health setting, acute pulmonary, or infectious disease field Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing Valid, unrestricted Arizona Board of Nursing Registered Nurse License We Also Value Experience working with patients from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, including unhoused populations Experience providing medical treatment for tuberculosis patients, to patients with infectious diseases, or to those with substance abuse disorders Fluency in Spanish or other non-English languages Strong phlebotomy skills, including geriatric and pediatric phlebotomy Experience working with the pediatric population Job Contributions Manage day-to-day case management of patients being treated for active and/or latent tuberculosis, including medication administration, directly observed therapy, treatment plans and guidelines, patient incentives, and treatment completion Complete accurate and complete medical record documentation, as well as submission of local, state, and/or federal TB control-related forms as they relate to case management responsibilities Knowledge of and ongoing education on tuberculosis infection, disease, and medications, including the epidemiological process and frequent comorbidities Skillfully interact and communicate with patients and their families to enhance education of the disease process and motivation to ensure compliance with the plan of care Collects all labs, including blood, sputa, urine as well as processing and reviewing results Provides oversight of Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT), and refill activities Working Conditions Work will occur in an office and field environment and may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness, humidity, respiratory hazards, noise, vibration, noxious odors, fumes, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking/standing to a significant degree Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete a background check Annual tuberculosis testing will be required and will be provided to all employees working with this population Valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test Selection Procedure Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants.
