Candidates must have a high school diploma, be at least 21 years old, and have lived experience as a primary caregiver for a child with mental health challenges. Required qualifications include experience with children's mental health systems, a valid driver's license, and the ability to complete Certified Family Peer Specialist training.

Nexus Family Healing is expanding to Eugene, Oregon, with the opening of a new 14-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) set to open this summer! This location is In partnership with the Oregon Health Authority Behavioral Health Division and will serve justice-involved youth ages 12 – 17, experiencing acute emotional concerns, and serious and persistent mental illness.

The Parent Partner provides active, hands-on, trauma-informed, and family-guided peer support to parents of youth receiving services while collaborating with families, team members, and service providers. The Parent Partner’s role is to increase family involvement within the program, connecting families to formal and informal resources, and advocating for families to decrease unintentional, programmatic, and institutional bias toward caregivers. Primary responsibilities: Family Engagement & Treatment Support Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with families and caregivers using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches Engage families at program entry and throughout treatment to support active participation Partner with treatment teams to assess needs and help develop effective, family-centered treatment goals Develop community partnerships to expand resources and referral options Client Advocacy Advocate for youth and families by coordinating support across care teams, schools, courts, and community providers Assist families in accessing resources such as housing, financial support, and food services Participate in key meetings (IEPs, treatment reviews, court hearings, etc.) to ensure family voice and needs are represented Coach and empower families to advocate for themselves Family Support & Coordination Provide parent education, coaching, and facilitate or co-lead support groups Serve as a liaison between families, treatment teams, and community services Respond to family needs and crises with timely, collaborative solutions Connect families to community resources and support follow-through with services Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
Required Education and Licensure: High School diploma or equivalent and must be at least 21 years of age. Must have prior experience as the primary parent or caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. Must have experience with children’s mental health systems such as DHS, DOC, social services, probation, or the Department of Mental Health. Completion of a successful background check. Currently have or be willing and able to successfully complete the Department of Human Services-approved Certified Family Peer Specialist Training and certificate exam. Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges. Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values. Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training Preferred Education and Experience: College coursework in the behavioral/mental health field. Experience working with families and trauma-exposed children or adolescents.
