Job description

Overview Registered Nurse – PCU, travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date 07/20/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $2,142–$2,183 per week. Guaranteed hours: none.

Schedule

36 hours per week after the first week of orientation; no call and no guaranteed hours. This hospital-based Progressive Care Unit includes a 15-bed unit (3-step down ICU and 12 telemetry beds). The RN will provide primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, and documentation, with occasional floating to all acute units in-house as needed.

Responsibilities

Deliver direct patient care in the Progressive Care Unit and telemetry patients, including assessments, care planning, and timely interventions
Monitor telemetry continuously, read strips, recognize changes, and escalate to the physician per protocol
Administer prescribed medications and treatments; document in Meditech; utilize Pyxis for medication administration; assist with BIPAP as needed
Perform fingerstick blood glucose checks; manage glycemic control and respond to abnormal results
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, provide patient and family education, and participate in discharge planning
Float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER units as needed; uphold patient safety and clinical standards

Requirements

Active Hawaii Registered Nurse license required by start of assignment (if not currently licensed, must apply upon acceptance)
Minimum 1 year of hospital acute-care experience within the last 12 months
Telemetry experience preferred; Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
ACLS preferred, PALS preferred, NIHSS certification preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced acute-care setting and to float to other units as needed
