The PreOp Assessment Nurse evaluates and prepares patients for surgery to ensure they are optimized for anesthesia and procedures. This includes conducting comprehensive screenings, educating patients, and coordinating with the surgical team to mitigate risks.
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse licensed in Virginia or hold a multi-state license with at least one year of progressive experience. BCLS certification and experience in preoperative, surgical, or critical care settings are required or preferred.
The Preoperative Assessment Nurse is responsible for evaluating and preparing patients for surgical procedures to ensure they are optimized for anesthesia and surgery. This role includes conducting comprehensive pre-surgical assessments, reviewing patient history, and communicating findings to the surgical and anesthesia teams. The Preop Assessment Nurse plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating any potential risks, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical experience for patients.
