Position Summary
Trains/Performs, under the direction of supervising audiologist, vestibular testing of patients with balance and dizziness disorders. The position conducts data analyses of patients' responses to vestibular testing and provides the appropriate reports to the Dizziness & Balance Center Manager & Physician.
Responsibilities
Conducts Cerumen removal and rotary chair testing
Administers Posturography, HS-SOT, DVA testing
Provides VNG testing
Creates the reports required for all testing
Assists patients and audiologist as needed
Maintains patient volume logs
Ensures the testing rooms and equipment and equipment are cleaned as required
Takes the required patient vitals
Obtains ABNs
Prepares charts for patient visits
Ensures verification of insurance benefits for all VNG/CDP testing
Communicates insurance benefits with patients to include deductible and copay policies
Confirms appointments for VNG/Tinnitus Assessment patients
Scans and attaches all Dizziness and Balance Center forms

Proofreads, edits and sends out reports; locks orders
Schedules vestibular tests and tinnitus assessments
Obtains research consents for Dizziness and Balance Center
Schedules appointments for clinical trial research patients
Inputs data entry for research
Maintains continuing education for research and vestibular related topics
Attends all D&B center related meetings/seminars/presentations
Attends basic audiology courses on-line or/and at UB
Qualifications
No degree/certificate required
Associate's degree or minimum 2 years clinic experience preferred
Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with a variety of sophisticated medical equipment
Ability to interpret data and draw conclusions
Strong planning, problem solving, organizational, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of general office equipment including fax and copy machines, multi-line phone system, and personal computer
Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to be flexible
High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with others including a patient population with varying degrees of illness and health
Ability to be flexible in regards to patient scheduling
Working Conditions
Engages in periods of prolonged standing
Moderate physical effort, engaging in major physical activity involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment and patients in excess of 100 pounds.
Continuous exposure to darkened room environment
Eye and wrist straining related to repetitive movements

Compensation
