Requires a nursing degree (Associate's or Diploma) and a valid Registered Nurse license, with a BSN required within five years of hire. BLS/CPR certification is mandatory, and two years of Labor & Delivery experience is preferred.

As a Registered Nurse in the Advanced OB Unit at Good Samaritan, you will apply the nursing process to provide both direct and indirect holistic, patient-centered care to high-risk obstetric patients and their families, supporting mothers and infants through complex pregnancies, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You will collaborate in a collegial manner with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, evidence-based care and optimal outcomes in a specialized environment designed for advanced maternal-fetal needs. In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care, serve as a patient and family advocate through education and emotional support, and respond effectively in high-acuity situations. Additionally, you may delegate certain aspects of care to those under your direct supervision in accordance with the scope of nursing practice, while maintaining accountability for care quality, safety, and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

Preferred membership in related professional organization
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family. Completes initial assessment tool. Documents ongoing assessment per unit/TriHealth guidelines. Communicates assessment findings to other health care providers as appropriate. Includes health counseling and health teaching needs in assessment.
Evaluates the plan of care for patient based on optimal specific patient outcomes. Documents the patient/family response to care including teaching. Collaborates with the patient/family and with other members of the health care team, including physicians, to revise plan of care as needed. Supervises the care that was delegated to other health care team members.
Performs technical skills according to policy and procedure and accepted standards within their area of practice. Safely administers medications/treatments and monitors their effects. Uses all equipment in a safe, appropriate manner.
Identifies areas for self-improvement, functions in relief charge / resource role as requested, completes assignments within scheduled timeframes, cooperates with instructor to facilitate effective learning experiences for students, maintains current knowledge in area of practice, demonstrates knowledge of organizational and department changes.
