The Patient Care Technician supports nursing staff by monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily patient hygiene and comfort. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe patient environment and providing emotional support to patients and families.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and BLS certification, with the ability to physically lift and move patients. Experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a CNA program is preferred.
As a Patient Care Tech at UAB Medical West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients. Under the supervision of the RN or LPN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various duties to support the treatment and care of patients according to established methods and procedures. The PCT takes and records vital signs, assists with personal hygiene, changes bed linens, and completes other tasks as assigned to promote the basic comfort and personal care of the patient. Your attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.
