Perform a blend of administrative and clinical duties to support physicians, including scheduling, billing, and maintaining medical records. Clinical tasks involve preparing patients for exams, collecting specimens, and administering medications or injections.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of experience, with a medical assistant program completion preferred. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and the ability to handle high-stress clinical environments.
Job purpose
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician/physician assistant. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.
Working conditions
Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations. Job requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations. Job requires 5 days per week working in an office.
Must be able to handle the site of blood and open wounds.
