Medical Lab Scientist in Indianapolis

Are you an experienced Medical Lab Scientist or a Medical Lab Tech with additional certifications looking for something different? This role in a high-volume pediatric blood bank may be for you!

As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will

Perform ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, antibody identification, and crossmatching for a high-volume blood bank.
Manage inventory of blood products, supply levels, proper storage conditions, and regulatory compliance while minimizing product waste.
Respond to emergency transfusion protocol activation, providing timely blood product support in critical patient care situations.
Investigate and resolve complex serologic discrepancies, transfusion reactions, and incompatible crossmatches in collaboration with pathologists and clinical teams.
Conduct quality control, equipment maintenance, and proficiency testing in accordance with accreditation standards and blood bank policies.

A few must-haves for Medical Lab Scientists

Active license within the state of Indiana- ASCP-BB*, ASCP-MLS,
Accepting
MLT under the following conditions: They will need to be ASCP-MLT AND ASCP-BB certified with Blood Bank experience in large facility.
1-2 years of recent and related experience, as required by facility
Must be able to work independently, yet together as part of a team
Must be able to remain calm under pressure
Proficient at taking vital signs and administering medication accordingly
Active BLS, physical, TB test, and other medical compliance as required by facility
