Clinician Requirements
Must always present as courteous and professional;
Maintains and submits any current Licensure or Certifications necessary for the performance of the position;
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks;
Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion;
Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn, use and train HPAO Electronic Health Records (EHR);
Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner;
An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs;
Understand and maintain therapeutic boundaries;
Reinforce rules in a respectful manner;
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations;
TB/Flu and Covid19 Assessment;
Annual Completion of the HPAO crisis de-escalation programs;
CPR Certification;
Successful completion of all trainings upon hire and annually as required.
Clinician Duties & Responsibilities
Crisis intervention;
Maintain assigned caseload; Providing direct care to patients - including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily group facilitations, group note completion, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments;
Making referrals when appropriate;
Responsible for each assigned patients medical records. All records are to be professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manner;
Responsible for connecting patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and aiding the patient and their family in access services when appropriate;
Communicating/involving family in treatment at patients' request;
Attending and participating in all unit and facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings, as directed by the Clinical Supervisor/Program Director;
Responsible for continued education in the field of substance use and related courses;
Always utilize standards precautions;
Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the rights of patients as defined by the patients rights.
Inpatient Services Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for contracting the insurance company for authorization, as needed;
Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responders;
Respond to codes as necessary;
Coordinator of aftercare services, appointments, and referrals;
Facilitation of identified groups and milieu activities as assigned;
Participation in MDT meetings to support patient care coordination;
Assistance with monitoring patient observation checks for milieu safety, as needed;
Completion of required documentation, including consents/releases; Group Notes, Progress Notes, Contact Logs, Transition/Discharge Summaries;
Supporting patients in crisis through verbal de-escalation, 1:1 monitoring, or crisis/safety planning, as requested;
Attendance in supervision, staff trainings and MDT meetings.
Clinician Qualifications
Bachelor’s Level Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in psychology or related field approved by licensing/contracting;
Experience in human service field;
Either a minimum of 3 years supervised substance use counseling experience or has a recognized certification or licensure including 4,000 hours of clinically supervised counseling of individuals with substance use disorders, including at least 220 documented hours of supervision.
Master's Level Qualifications
A master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field; clinical psychology, education counseling, medicine, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work;
Minimum of one year supervised substance use and/or mental health disorder counseling experience preferred.
