About the role

The OB Fellow provides comprehensive primary medical care and non-surgical hospital care to patients within a team-based coordinated care model. They are also responsible for directing preventive health programs and supervising clinical staff including nurses.

Sea Mar's network of services includes more than 90 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics and a wide variety of nutritional, social, and educational services. Position Summary

The OB Fellow is part of a care team working to provide quality comprehensive services to Sea Mar patients and patients at affiliated institutions within the context of their OB Fellowship training (see OB Fellowship Program Description) as well as take part in independent family medicine clinic and non-surgical hospital care as a fully licensed independent physician. The OB Fellow will work collaboratively with staff to provide team- based coordinated care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES ∙ As a fully licensed medical provider, the OB Fellow provides primary medical care services to patients of Sea Mar Community Health Centers in accordance with training, experience, certification, insurance and licensure in a manner consistent with guidelines established in the principles of practice at Sea Mar and its mission statement. ∙ The OB Fellow will provide appropriate hospital and institutional care as required. ∙ The OB Fellow may refer patients to medical specialists or other sources of service when necessary. ∙ The OB Fellow prescribes and/or dispenses required medication to patients according to the individual prescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board. ∙ The OB Fellow participates in organizing and directing preventive health programs such as immunization, disease detection and disease prevention activities, including educational programs for patients and community groups in the service areas with approval from the Medical Director and/or Health Center Administrator. ∙ The OB Fellow is expected to participate in clinical affairs, working with administrative personnel, the Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer to improve the patient care experience. ∙ The OB Fellow provides care for special groups of patients such as those in nursing homes or other institutions when appropriate. Qualifications ∙ Knowledge or an interest in the unique cultural aspects of the Hispanic people is needed. ∙ Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred. Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Medical Screening Basic Education ∙ Licensed M.D or D.O. Additional Requirements ∙ Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required. ∙ Annual influenza and COVID vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all time during the flu season. Minimal Formal Training ∙ Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved post-graduate residency; board certification in the appropriate specialty or actively seeking board certification. ∙ Applicant must be board certified within five (5) years of residency completion. ∙ A current DEA certificate is required. if applicant is requesting privileges to prescribe controlled substances. ∙ This position must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and is required to maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment. ∙ A current NRP certificate is required. Supervision JOB RELATIONSHIP ∙ Supervised at Sea Mar by: the Chief Medical Officer; the Medical Director; and the Health Center Administrator or delegated administrator as appropriate. ∙ Supervised at the affiliated Hospital for obstetrical surgical training by: the OB Fellowship Director and the identified Obstetrician group. ∙ The OB Fellow is evaluated on a yearly basis by staff, peers, the Medical Director, the Chief Medical Officer, the OB Fellowship Director, and the Health Center Administrator. ∙ Employees Supervised: The OB Fellow provides clinical supervision to the assigned staff of nurses and other professionals. ∙ Interrelationships: The OB Fellow works closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, and the Executive Director to realize the programmatic goals of the organization Salary - Salary Plan, 90,000.00 USD Annual

Requirements

Candidates must be a licensed M.D. or D.O. with successful completion of an ACGME or AOA approved residency and a current DEA certificate. Required certifications include BLS CPR and NRP, with board certification required within five years of residency.
