What to expect as a Speech Pathologist

Communicate effectively. Provide excellent customer service and have consistent professional etiquette. Assess, diagnosis, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Work as part of a collaborative team in a health care setting. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services. Maintain department QI program and statistics and participates in house wide initiatives. Provide speech therapy modalities to all age groups, pediatric through geriatrics. Investigates and reports concerns timely and informs Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications

Masters in Speech-Language Pathology required. 2 – 3 years’ experience in acute care speech-language pathology, barium swallow studies, and speech/swallowing evaluations. BLS, required.
