Collaborate with Principal Investigators to perform laboratory-based translational research on pediatric sarcomas and manage the tumor bank. Coordinate patient sample procurement, conduct NGS assays, and assist in the authorship of scientific presentations and publications.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, genetics, or a related field with at least one year of professional laboratory experience. Preferred candidates will have a Master's degree and experience with flow cytometry, tissue culture, and animal handling.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year of professional laboratory experience. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. We are unable to provide work visa sponsorship or employment authorization for this position now or in the future.
Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field. Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory. Experience with basic and multicolor flow cytometry Experience with tissue culture and maintenance of various cell lines. Animal experience (designing/mouse handling/injections/harvesting/sacrificing). Experience with Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) accreditation standards. Previous experience in presenting and/or aiding in publications.
Must be willing and able to pass national criminal and sex offender background checks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Outstanding customer service skills. Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information. Ability to stay organized under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a “team.” Ability to complete lab functions involving cell culture and aseptic techniques. Ability to troubleshoot and independently resolve technical issues with experiments. Proficient in National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) HL7 messaging system. Competent with ELISAs and cloning. Competency with FlowJo, Microsoft Office, Prism GraphPad, and analysis software(s).
