About the role

Responsible for preparing equipment and the operating room for eye surgeries while anticipating the surgeon's needs. Ensures strict adherence to aseptic techniques and manages efficient room turnover and instrumentation processing.

Description Mann Eye Surgery Center is looking for an experienced Certified Surgical Technician with eye experience to join our team. As a member of our surgery team, you will be responsible for the preparation of the necessary equipment, handling a variety of equipment requiring manual dexterity and efficiency and preparing the operating room for surgical procedures. This position will require flexibility to work in Instrumentation processing as needed.

Candidates must have eye experience, possess professional, and friendly personalities and enjoy working with people of all ages. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate strong organization, self-motivation, and multi-tasking abilities. Discretion and integrity are of the utmost importance with all interactions.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required · 2+ years of hands on surgical technician experience · Strong Ophthalmic background (preferred) · Experience with folding Intraocular Lenses (IOL’s) · Experience with folding 3-Piece Lenses · Experience with anterior Vitrectomy’s · Experience with the Catalys Femto 2nd Laser · Experience with the ORA system · BLS certification · Graduate from school of surgical technology, LPN program, RN program, or completion of a military training program that includes surgical technology skills. · Basic skills and related to aseptic/ sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation (preferred) · Experience in ophthalmology

Licensure, Certification or Registration Required

· Job Responsibilities · Demonstrates through behavior Mann Cataract Surgery Center’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Ethical, Honesty and Respect. · Performs the role of surgical scrub by anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed of any needs throughout a procedure.

Ensures that all supplies, equipment, and medications are assembled prior to the procedure. · Is innovative in maintaining high standards and quality in the facilitation of cost savings and containment. · In an efficient and organized manner, assists team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times.

Directs ancillary personnel participating in room turnover.

Provides assistance and support as needed to members of the surgical team. · Promotes a safe environment.

Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, being aware of and controlling hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and employees.

Identifies and reports environmental concerns to the management team.

Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards and policy and procedures. · Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand washing according to policy.

Strictly adheres to all infection control practices and diligently monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team.

Takes immediate corrective action for breaks in technique. · Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.

Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.

Adheres to all policies and procedures. · Maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments and staff.

Requirements

Requires at least 2 years of surgical technician experience with a strong background in ophthalmology and BLS certification. Must be a graduate of a surgical technology, LPN, or RN program.
