The Homefinder is responsible for training, assessing, and certifying resource families through home studies and safety evaluations. They also manage the annual recertification process and assist with MAPP training for resource parents.
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology is required, along with experience in child welfare or working with families. Candidates must be computer literate and willing to obtain MAPP certification.
The Homefinder will perform all steps necessary to train, assess and certify and recertify resource families. The Homefinder will be part of a centralized home finding department. Position Description: Study/assess recruited and kinship homes, including gathering documentation, interviewing all family and household members, babysitters, and references. Conduct home visits to assess the family dynamics and physical plant and safety of the home. Insure that all homes meet the physical standards required. Interview collateral resources where necessary. Write home studies that are both complete and timely. Enter all necessary information in the NYS Connections home record in a timely manner. Conduct and assist with MAPP and Mini-Mapp training of resource parents. Complete the annual recertification of resource families. To recertify home; conduct home visits, interviews, safety assessment, document collection and complete written assessment on required form. Attend Community meetings as needed Attend foster parent recruitment events. Attend internal and external meetings as necessary. Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor and administrators.

Regular supervision and performance evaluation of direct reports. All other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s in social work, Psychology or Sociology. Other Requirements: Child welfare experience or working with families required. Previous home finding experience preferred. Must be computer literate. Must have good communication skills and ability to make assessments. MAPP certified or willingness to become MAPP certified. Ability and willingness to work some weekends and evenings is required Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
