The CNA provides safe basic care to patients, including taking vital signs and assisting with daily living activities. They are also responsible for specimen collection, patient observation, and documenting information in patient charts.
Candidates must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with AHA BLS certification. A high school diploma and six months of clinical healthcare experience are preferred.
The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
