Provide comprehensive psychiatric services, including assessment, evaluation, and medication management for youth and families within the ACT program. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver care and provide training to staff on psychiatric conditions and treatment strategies.
Requires a Master's degree in Nursing with a psychiatric specialization, NP certification, and valid New York State and DEA licenses. Must have experience prescribing psychotropic medications to children and adolescents aged 10-21.

As a key member of the Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, the Psychiatrist plays an essential role in prescribing medications, coordinating with the team, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of medications. This position also supports youth and families while educating the team on medication management and health-related issues. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric services, including assessment, evaluation, treatment, and psychopharmacology. Additionally, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner offers consultation to families and provides training for staff regarding specific disorders, medication concerns, and treatment strategies. The. As part of the clinical team, they contribute to the interdisciplinary approach, provide staff training, and oversee medication management within the Youth ACT program.
Collaborate with the Youth ACT interdisciplinary team and external healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care Educate and train team members on psychiatric conditions, medication side effects, and treatment strategies Provide training and supervision to support staff development and effective medication management Conduct thorough psychiatric and medical assessments and provide appropriate treatment interventions Offer ongoing psychiatric services, including assessments, treatment planning, and psychopharmacology, to support youth and families in achieving their goals Actively participate in clinical and interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing expertise in psychiatric care and treatment planning Build trusting relationships with families to foster open communication regarding medication use and related concerns Adhere to New York State (NYS) practice requirements and ensure all clinical activities comply with regulatory standards
Education: Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in psychiatric/mental health. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in psychiatric/mental health required License to practice in the state of New York required DEA License required Experience: Experience as a psychiatric clinic nurse specialist and/or psychiatric nurse practitioner preferred Capacity to participate in the principles and practices of the inter-disciplinary team approach is preferred Previous experience in prescribing psychotropic medications to child/adolescent population based upon multiple diagnoses required Ability to perform psychiatric evaluations on children ages 10-21, diagnose according to the DSM-IV-TR, participate in and make recommendations to the treatment teams, initiate and prescribe medication treatment based on diagnoses and re-evaluate conditions and medications required Proficiency in psychopharmacology is crucial, with a commitment to adhering to New York State practice requirements and regulatory standards is essential to ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of clinical activities required Use of computers and telecommunications to input assessments and progress notes in the agency electronic health record required Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
