Pharmacist (Internal Post) / Pharmacy / PRN

• Summary of Performance Expectations.
• Dispenses medications, intravenous fluids, and other pharmaceuticals.
• Reviews patient medication profiles for appropriate therapy and potential problems.
• Enters medication orders and contacts prescribing physician for clarification as needed.
• Provides therapeutic drug dosing and ensures compliance to pharmacy protocols.
• Participates in team meetings and rounds Supervises technical personnel in their dispensing functions.
• Serves as a clinical resource to the medical center and medical center staff regarding drugs and pharmaceuticals.
• Provides counseling to patients and family members on the use of drugs and drug devices.
• Assumes responsibility for specialized pharmacy activities and projects to increase the level of pharmaceutical care in the organization.
• Ensures compliance with all state/federal laws and hospital policy and procedures.

Education and Credentials

Required Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree and currently licensed as a pharmacist in North Carolina.

Preferred Pharmacy Residency

Work Experience

Required No previous experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.

Preferred One year of experience in a hospital setting.
