The Physical Therapist Assistant implements individualized plans of care and adjusts treatment interventions based on patient data and feedback. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and communicating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited physical therapist assistant program with current state licensure and BLS certification. A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and insurance are also required for the position.
Works under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. The physical therapist assistant implements selected components of patient interventions (treatment), obtains data related to the interventions provided, and makes modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient safety and comfort. Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned: 1. Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the physical therapist. 2. Adjusts treatment interventions in response to patient feedback, objective data and observation within the established plan of care. Identifies need for changes in plan of care and communicates with supervising physical therapist. 3. Assists the physical therapist with managing the established discharge plan throughout treatment. 4. Supervises and delegates to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy. 5. Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations. 6. Communicates with the patient, family, caregivers, significant others, and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefit of care utilizing AIDET.
