The Pharmacist Intern performs professional pharmacy functions, including preparing and dispensing medication orders under licensed supervision. They collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure safe, cost-effective medication therapies and accurate patient documentation.
Candidates must be registered as an Extern or Intern by the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. The role requires strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a cooperative team environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. The internship will allow the Pharmacist student to gain a better understanding of inpatient hospital pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical care. Collaborate and develop relationships with practicing Pharmacists who will provide support and mentorship. Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physicians’ request under the direction of a licensed pharmacist. Assists pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services that are within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns. Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. Assists the pharmacist with ensuring safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. Intervenes and communicates effectively with the medical staff and other health professionals. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to create and foster a cooperative teamwork environment.
