Who We Are

Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Inc. (CFLSP) is a nationally recognized social service organization. CFL’s mission is to promote positive outcomes for children and adults in Sunset Park, Brooklyn by providing a comprehensive range of neighborhood-based family and social services.

The Mother Cabrini Counseling (MCC) Program provides short-term, trauma-informed behavioral health counseling, up to 12 weekly sessions, for immigrant individuals, couples, families, and groups primarily in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, with services extending across the greater New York area. Rooted in a family systems and community-building perspective, MCC staff work through an immigration-sensitive and culturally responsive lens, in close collaboration with CFL's network of neighborhood-based programs. We believe that healing happens in relationship — within families, within groups, and within community.

Purpose of the position

The Bilingual Behavioral Health Clinician will provide short-term, trauma-informed behavioral health counseling, case management, and advocacy services to immigrant individuals, couples, families, and groups in Sunset Park and the greater New York area. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician who is passionate about holistic, collaborative clinical care and who thrives in a community-based setting that values family systems work, group work, and building community. Master's level staff working toward full licensure are welcome to apply and can earn supervised clinical hours.

I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to Carry a caseload of individual, couple, and family clients, providing counseling both in-person and virtually Facilitate support groups based on client and community needs Conduct intakes and comprehensive assessments for individuals (children and adults), couples, and families Co-create and revise therapeutic goals collaboratively with clients Embrace and apply a trauma-informed clinical approach with an immigration- and culturally sensitive lens Provide psychoeducation, referral, and advocacy as needed Meet collaterally with family members, teachers, and other service providers to support counseling goals Collaborate with CFL program staff, external systems, and community-based providers Attend weekly clinical supervision and participate in weekly staff meetings, trainings, and additional meetings as needed Manage a flexible schedule, including weekday evenings Maintain timely and accurate case records and documentation Adhere to HIPAA requirements and agency policies and procedures Perform other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed II.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or equivalent degree Licensed or working under a Limited Permit (LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW) Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese required Strong clinical skills and experience with individuals, couples, and families, especially using trauma-informed approaches Knowledge of child development, family systems, trauma, and immigration-related stressors Excellent organization, communication, and writing skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to work 2–3 evenings per week Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which will be conducted after a conditional offer is made and accepted. III. RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS Build and maintain close, daily interactions with clients, co-workers, supervisors, community partners, and referral sources Effectively communicate with agency staff, key stakeholders, and families Excellent engagement skills, meeting families where they are and forging mutual respect Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff, clients, and the broader community Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change Forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families IV. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is primarily in office and community-based settings Significant time is spent in direct client-facing work as well as at a desk using a computer Attendance at various meetings at the agency and in the community Evening availability (2–3 evenings per week) may be needed based on client and family scheduling needs; hybrid schedule with 2–3 remote days per week available Fast-paced, high-energy, and highly collaborative environment V.
