Job description

Description SIGN ON BONUS OF $15K FOR 2 YEAR COMMITTMENT OR $25K FOR 3 YEARS IS AVAILABLE.

A Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation with consideration of the aging process, human development stages and cultural diversity. Directs and coordinates all nursing care for Emergency Department patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards and hospital policy and procedures. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Scheduled workdays and times may vary and will include weekends and holidays.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports, role models and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital and in accordance with the Service Excellence Standards of Behavior Demonstrates highly ethical conduct and moral behavior in personal and professional action and communication, consistent with the goals and objectives of Hillsboro Health Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information Focuses on quality standards.
  • Follows guidelines of safety (incident reporting) and staff health/infection control (illness reporting) Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures and assist with their review and updates.
  • Ensures that the hospital Compliance Plan and all governmental rules and regulations are followed.
  • Attends monthly meetings with Director of Emergency Services to review Monthly Meeting agenda.
  • Makes clinical decisions and sets priorities related to workload management based on clinical knowledge and individual patient needs.
  • Proactively participate in processes to guide patient care in the most efficient, productive, cost-effective manner possible.
  • Assists Unit Clerk, Medical Assistant, C.N.A., Paramedic and or EMT in maintaining the ER Central Logbook and following all EMTALA regulations.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Displays accountability for actions and decisions for the total patient care process.
  • Completes assigned daily duties.
  • Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of equipment, work, and storage areas.
  • Accepts reassignment to other units if necessary.
  • Follows expected work practices.
  • Displays thoroughness and accuracy of work.
  • Works in a safe manner, including reporting unsafe equipment or environment.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate of accredited nursing school Three years of nursing experience preferred. Ability to pass specific competencies for this position. Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints. Better than average human relations and organizational skills

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Maintain current Illinois RN Licensure Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. CPR, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certification required, or be willing to obtain. Additional certifications may be required.

    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS Prolonged, extensive, or considerable sitting, standing, and walking.
    • Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
    • Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT Works in a well-lit, climate controlled, office setting. Eyestrain and other conditions from use of computer screen may occur. May be exposed to communicable diseases, hypodermic/IV needles, unpleasant sights, odors, and materials. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

    CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Receives training and/or attends necessary meetings to meet the criteria as outlined in Hillsboro Health’s Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct. Understands the responsibilities related to compliance and knows how to contact the Corporate Compliance Officer should there be any instance of question or concern regarding fraud and/or abuse.
