About the role

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides professional care to child, adolescent, and adult populations under the supervision of a psychiatrist. Key duties include completing psychiatric evaluations within 24 hours, rounding on patients, and managing on-call duties for nights and weekends.

Job Description

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides professional care to both Child and Adolescent and Adult populations. Working under the supervision of a Lakeside psychiatrist, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner completes psychiatric evaluations within 24 hours as assigned by the attending physician. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner rounds regularly on patients as assigned, creating proper documentation for the patient file. This position may regularly take call on nights and weekends to provide orders for patient care.

Qualifications

Job Requirements Education

Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.

Experience

  • One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensure and registration by the Tennessee board. Current DEA Certification.

Other

Must maintain appropriate clinical privileges commensurate with the NP specialty and license scope. Maintains an appropriate collaborative or similar agreement with a Lakeside supervising physician in accordance with State law.

Knowledge

Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.
