Our Critical Care Unit is part of a dynamic, teaching hospital environment that prioritizes clinical excellence and continuous learning. As a Chest Pain Center–accredited and Primary Stroke Center, we provide advanced, evidence-based care to high-acuity patients. Our integrated Cardiac Rehabilitation Program supports recovery beyond the bedside, while ongoing critical care education and specialized classes empower staff to expand their knowledge, sharpen skills, and grow professionally within a collaborative, patient-focused team.

How you’ll contribute

A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) who excels in this role

• Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Documents care and activities per unit standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.

• What we’re looking for Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
