Work where you matter. A Brief Overview Performs standardized histotechnology procedures under supervision by the Histology Section leader and Section Pathologist. What you will do
May perform routine histology techniques including, but not limited to: tissue embedding, cutting, staining, coverslipping, labeling, and case distribution. May perform special histology and/or cytology specimen processing procedures including but limited to muscle and nerve biopsy preparation, fine needle aspiration, immunohistochemical staining, histochemical stains, and bone marrow processing. Accessions specimens into computer system. Assists pathologist or pathology assistant in performing gross examination of tissue specimens. Assist Pathologist and/or Clinician in obtaining bone marrow specimens. May perform gross on select specimens under the supervision of the Pathologist. May prepare frozen sections, and other immediate attention specimens for intraoperative diagnosis.
May perform miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: routine maintenance, specimen filing, sending reference lab specimens and preparing reagents or solutions. Assists with student teaching and training. Assists with quality assurance and continuous quality improvement projects.
