The PCT/CNA provides safe basic care to adult med-surg patients, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily living activities. They are also responsible for specimen collection, patient observation, and maintaining accurate patient charts.
Candidates must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification. A high school diploma and six months of clinical healthcare experience are preferred.

OVERVIEW: Welcome to Adult Medical Specialty Unit! AMSU is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Forest Park building. We have 2 units that function independently but we are one department. We serve the adult med-surg patient population. Our patients have a variety of diagnosis that offers a broad range of clinical experiences in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
