About the role

The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients with vestibular disorders, balance issues, TMJ dysfunction, and headache disorders. Responsibilities include developing individualized plans of care and collaborating with referring physicians to restore patient function.

Summary description

The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients with vestibular disorders, balance and dizziness conditions, TMJ dysfunction, and headache disorders, with a focus on restoring function and quality of life through specialized rehabilitation. Provide one-on-one physical therapy care to support patient recovery and functional improvement. Join our team and receive a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible new hires. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients presenting with vestibular dysfunction (BPPV, vestibular neuritis, Meniere's, PPPD, post-concussive dizziness), balance and fall-risk conditions, TMJ disorders, and cervicogenic or tension-type headaches; establish PT diagnoses and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Deliver specialized interventions including canalith repositioning maneuvers (Epley, Semont, BBQ roll), gaze stabilization and habituation exercises, balance and gait retraining, TMJ manual therapy and neuromuscular re-education, and cervical spine treatment for headache management.
  • Complete and submit all evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries via EMR in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with clinic needs.
  • Communicate regularly with referring physicians (ENT, neurology, dentistry, primary care) and others involved in the patient's care regarding progress, modifications, and additional needs.
  • Attend clinic meetings as required.
  • Ensure all clinic routines and procedures are carried out as outlined.
  • Stay current with evidence-based practice in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, TMD, and headache treatment.
  • Oversee scheduling, documentation, and inventory for the assigned clinical area.
  • Orient new personnel to clinic programs and procedures.
  • Assist the Lead Physical Therapist in developing new specialty programs and revising clinical procedures as needed.
  • Actively participate in and adhere to all policies and procedures as enumerated in the Corporate Compliance program.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program (Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college required as prerequisite).
  • Current Physical Therapy license in the State of Virginia.
  • CPR certified.
  • 2 years of outpatient PT experience required.
  • Vestibular experience greatly preferred.
  • Experience treating TMJ dysfunction and headache disorders strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with concussion / post-concussive management a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and an understanding of process improvement techniques.
  • Self-initiator for projects, improvement activities, and evaluation methods.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a clinic setting.
  • Physical / Mental demands
  • Must be able to view a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling, and pushing of equipment, etc.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and a current Virginia state license. A minimum of 2 years of outpatient experience is required, with a strong preference for expertise in vestibular and TMJ treatment.
