Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care to PCU patients, including continuous monitoring, clinical assessments, and administration of medications and therapies.
  • Provide ventilatory support management (BiPAP), chest tube care, PICC line care, and other device-related duties as needed; perform sterile procedures and manage catheters with appropriate asepsis.
  • Obtain and process lab specimens, review results, and document findings and care plans in EPIC; coordinate with the care team to adjust treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other disciplines; call on own consults, participate in rounds, and ensure smooth patient progression across units.
  • Respond to emergencies, perform codes when required, and uphold patient safety; float to ICU and all inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED) per unit needs with prior experience.

Requirements

  • Active KS RN license or Compact RN license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHF certifications.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience.
  • Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing own labs; comfortable without a vascular access team and calling own consults; capable of conducting codes.
  • Ability to float to ICU and all inpatient units as needed; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience is preferred.
