Summary of Job Purpose: Provides health care services applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
Performs ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in the following areas: OB/GYN, abdomen, pediatric extremities and vascular procedures.
Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient’s conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Essential Job Qualifications: Education: Graduate from an A.M.A. approved school of Sonography Experience: 2 years experience preferred License: RDMS or ARRT (S)- Strongly preferred.
Unregistered sonographers must be registered within one year of hire date.
Working Conditions: Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Some occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
May exert up to 50 lbs. force Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
