The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct skilled client care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include following the plan of care, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive client care outcomes.
· Graduate of accredited licensed practical nurse program practical from a community college. · Current Certificate of Competence and in good standing with the California State Board of Nursing · 1 year of nursing experience required; three years nursing experience preferred. Community, home health or medical/surgical experience preferred. · Comply with the regulations and legislation. · Comply with accepted professional standards of practice. · High level of interpersonal skills. · Certified in CPR. · Strong clinical skills. · Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal tactfully with clients, other team members and community. · Treat clients, team members and the public with courtesy, respect and presents a positive public image. · Empathy for the needs of the client. · Works as a team member. · Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. · Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with the organizations requirements. · Negative TB test or chest x-ray.
Contact with clients under a wide variety of circumstances. Care provided in client’s living environment with varying situations or in an institution such as a hospital. May be required to respond to emergency situations. Travel required. Position includes tasks that have the potential for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) such as body fluids/tissues.
May include gloves, mask, eye/face protection, and disposable outer covering or lab coat.
Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the ability of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Visual and hearing acuity required.
