  • Category: Health CareSUMMARY This position is responsible for performing tests through approved department procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following) Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely fashion following established guidelines and physician orders. Report all tests in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures timely. Inform appropriate personnel of department supply needs ensuring uninterrupted testing. Perform, record and analyze QC data in order to make judgments concerning the results and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, and monitoring temperatures in accordance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies. Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action. QualificationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, a related field in Science, or equivalent experience. Certification by ASCP, NCA, or AMT preferred. Knowledge of all areas in the laboratory demonstrated through interview process. Knowledge of laboratory computer system preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong written and verbal communication skills with prevalent professional demeanor Ability to mentor, train, motivate, direct and empower team Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation Ability to work independently Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment Analytical skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner Exhibit sound and accurate judgment Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new approaches Maintain professional technical knowledge

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science field. Certification by ASCP, NCA, or AMT is preferred along with knowledge of laboratory computer systems.
