Responsibilities
- Provide direct critical care to ICU patients, including neuro-medical and post-surgical cases; monitor vital signs, laboratory data, and patient responses; administer medications and manage changes in condition per physician orders.
- Manage life-sustaining equipment and therapies common to ICU care, such as ventilators, arterial/central lines, ICP monitoring, and CRRT/PRISMAflex when indicated; document interventions accurately.
- Monitor patient status continuously, interpret hemodynamic data, and escalate changes promptly following established protocols; participate in rapid response and code events as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacists, and wound/infusion teams); contribute to daily rounds and family communication; maintain thorough EPIC documentation.
- Support patient safety and comfort, including pain control, infection prevention, and mobility as appropriate; assist with neurocritical care and post-operative care plans as required.
- Float to other units as needed per assignment while maintaining competency in ICU care standards; adhere to hospital policies and safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license with NURSYS verification
- ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS certification preferred - 2+ years of ICU experience; 4–5 years preferred; travel experience required
- EMR proficiency with EPIC
- Ability to work in a high-acuity ICU setting; 12-hour night shifts; ability to float to other units as needed
- Current certifications and documentation must be up to date; valid professional license status and compliance records
