Practice Details

Full-time position, Monday – Friday business hours. No call or weekends. Outpatient-based role located at New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Provide care for patients with solid tumors and hematologic conditions

Care for patients across the treatment continuum, including active treatment visits, Infusion center support, survivorship and follow-up care

Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including: Oncology providers, surgical and medical specialists and radiation oncology partners

  • Oncology Nurse Navigator
  • Clinic RNs, LPNs, and infusion nursing team
  • Dedicated Oncology Research Nurse
  • Onsite Radiology (PET, including PSMA PET, MRI, CT)
  • Onsite laboratory services
  • Oncology social work, dietitian, mental health support, and financial navigation
  • Oncology Provider Coordinator for scheduling support
  • Cancer rehabilitation and survivorship services
  • Palliative care and genetic counseling (telehealth supported)
  • Infusion/Oncology Nurse Manager
  • Centralized prior authorization support through Allina Health
  • Access to clinical trials through MMCORC and NCI-supported programs,

Job Description

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

Provides clinical care for patients

Completes comprehensive patient assessments.

Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.

Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.

Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.

Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.

Refers for specialty care when determined.

Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

Participates in health care team

Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.

Acts as resource to members of the team.

Works with primary care team for program development.

Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.

Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or physician assist program required.

Minimum of 1 year of NP or PA experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology.

  • Licenses/Certifications
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire ( RN)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire or Certified Physician Assistant- MN Medical Board required upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty required upon hire. BLS required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range: $135,096 to $164,216 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program and at least one year of experience. Must hold valid MN state licensure and specialty certification (ANCC or NCCPA) upon hire.
