Atlantic Health is seeking a motivated and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) to join our inpatient Rehabilitative Services team at Newton and Hackettstown Medical Centers. Responsibilities

The Speech-Language Pathologist II is an experienced clinician who provides advanced evaluation and treatment for adult patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in the acute care setting. This role requires a high level of clinical judgment, autonomy, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support patient safety, optimize functional outcomes, and facilitate appropriate discharge planning. The SLP II serves as a clinical resource for staff, contributes to quality improvement initiatives, and supports the advancement of evidence-based practice within the department. Clinical Care Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with: Dysphagia (including instrumental assessments as applicable) Cognitive-communication deficits Aphasia, dysarthria, and other speech/language disorders Implement evidence-based interventions to improve patient function and safety Provide timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards Make recommendations for diet, communication strategies, and discharge planning Collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, and therapy teams Provide education to patients, families, and staff regarding communication and swallowing needs Advanced Practice / Leadership Serve as a mentor/preceptor for SLP I staff, students, and new hires Function as a clinical resource for complex or high-risk patients Participate in department initiatives, program development, or specialty practice areas (e.g., dysphagia, stroke, critical care) Support quality improvement, data tracking, and regulatory readiness activities Skills & Competencies Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills Ability to manage a dynamic caseload in a fast-paced acute care environment Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines Experience with instrumental swallow studies (MBSS/FEES). Requirements
