General Purpose The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing services both direct and indirect for the care and treatment of the patient throughout Carson. The Registered Nurse will float to the area of need according to patient/staffing needs of the organization. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care according to Nursing Services policies, procedures and standards of care. Essential Duties Assesses patient condition and initiates appropriate nursing and/or medical care in accordance with established guideline. Performs nursing activities in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, Michigan Public Health Code and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. Develops, evaluates, updates and implements plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient and documents accurately in the medical record. Delegates and directs specifics of care plan to Patient Care Technician or other health care workers according to those Caregivers’ scope of practice. Engages in patient/family teaching. Reports pertinent data of patient’s condition to charge nurse, physician, manager, supervisor, and other medical personnel, as appropriate. Acts as liaison between members of the health care team, patient, and patient’s family. Administers medications, performs diagnostic procedures and treatments in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and use of unit specific equipment and appropriate supplies used to deliver the highest quality patient care. Coordinates admissions and discharges of assigned patients. Compliance with mandatory job-related requirements (i.e. staff meetings, in-services, annual competencies and TB testing). Maintains professional standards and knowledge of current trends in nursing and provides evidence of current competencies. Float to various departments as assigned. Current Michigan license to practice as Registered nurse.
BCLS certification. Work Experience
Basic computer knowledge
Nursing experience preferred
Critical care experience preferred Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
Graduate from an accredited BSN program preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to patient served in service area (newborn to geriatric). The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.
Clinical knowledge and analytic ability necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans and interventions.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
