About the role

The coordinator provides patient care and data collection in adherence to study protocols, including blood draws and specimen handling. They also manage interactions between sponsors, clinic staff, and internal research personnel while maintaining EMR documentation.

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator.

📍 Location

  • 462 Grider Street Buffalo, NY 🏥
  • Department: Oral Oncology 🕒
  • Shift: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, First Shift

Job Duties

Provide patient/subject care often consisting of data or sample collection in adherence with the study protocol and good clinical research principals.

Assist with the clinical obligations of studies including blood draws, specimen collection, vitals, monitoring for adverse reactions, etc.

Prepare specimens, and coordinate the handling, packaging, and shipping of hazardous material.

Manage interaction with representatives from sponsors, internal research personnel and clinic staff.

Coordinate screening for enrollment, resource documentation, and clinical trial calendars.

Utilize hospital EMR, and external databases to update, maintain and store all necessary documents.

Work independently when required and in conjunction with other coordinators when assigned.

Assure all procedures and services are conducted in compliance with the study regulations and/or standard of care.

Deliver exemplary customer service and patient experience.

Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, science, healthcare, or other related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, required
  • Phlebotomy certification, preferred
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Experience

  • 1 year experience in phlebotomy, preferred
  • 3 years in clinical research, preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical skills with an understanding of outpatient care procedures.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
  • Knowledge of research method and ethics, preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare team members
  • Knowledge in cancer screening guidelines and procedures, risk assessment, patient education, informed decision making, and staying updated with advancements in cancer screening practices
  • Critical thinking, time management, strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to work independently

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in nursing, science, or healthcare and BLS certification are required. Preferred qualifications include phlebotomy certification and experience in both phlebotomy and clinical research.
